Spaghetti Sauce

On Saturday, my husband, Red and myself when to a local U-pick garden ( Harvest Moon). We had so much fun picking veggies out of the garden. We picked three buckets of tomatoes and two buckets of green bell peppers and cabbage. We were able to talk with the farm owner and had so much fun that day on the Harvest Moon farm.

When we arrived home I washed and put the tomatoes away for a couple of days. On Tuesday, I started peeling the tomatoes then I cut them up and took the seeds out. Afterwards I put the meat of the tomatoes in a strainer to drain the juice off. The juice will be used later for jelly. After hours of chopping, cooking and canning, I had 29 quarts of the best spaghetti sauce in the world.
In the spring we will be making more of this wonderful sauce from the tomatoes that Opa will be growing. Being on the farm and helping my husband grow some of our food and feeding the animals is one of the wonderful things in life. I love making our own food has been a very healing time in our lives.
